About
Ip Man Wing Chun Union Lineage
We teach Ip Man Wing Chun via his son, Ip Ching. Sifu Tony had the great privilege of training directly with Grandmaster Ip Ching and with Sam Kwok and Master Edmund Fong. The idea is that the lessons of the past need to be applied today. Ip Man taught students who were likely to need their skills against a host of styles we rarely run into today. Hung Gar and Praying Mantis, for example, are vastly different than Muay Thai and MMA. That said, we teach Ip Man Wing Chun - its forms, drills, and principles - to be used against the modern opponent for the purpose of self-protection. The true principles of Wing Chun, properly understood and trained, are timeless.

Meet the Family
Lineage and the Ip Man Wing Chun Union

Master
Edmund Fong
Master Edmund was a senior disciple of Grandmaster Ip Ching and was the primary assistant as well as translator for all English speaking groups and private students of the Grandmaster throughout the 90's until Ip Ching's passing on January 25, 2020. Master Edmund now lives in Toronto and teaches there as well as travels for seminars. He is the senior advisor for the Ip Man Wing Chun Union and head of our family lineage.

Sifu
Tony Massengill
Sifu Tony Massengill is the founder and president of the Ip Man Wing Chun Union. Massengill was the Senior United States Representative of Samuel Kwok for over 10 years and was responsible for teaching the Ip Man's family system, as passed by the Traditional Ip Man Wing Chun Association. Sifu Tony parted ways with Master Kwok in 2010.
Sifu Tony has also been fortunate to have trained and build a relationship with Master Edmund Fong, with whom he still trains.
Sifu Massengill has been training in the Martial Arts for 59 years. After earning Black Belt and Instructor ranking in many Martial systems, Sifu began training in Wing Chun in 1979. Upon retiring from Public Safety, where he worked in Law Enforcement and the Fire Service over a 25+ year career, Massengill established his training academy in Yorktown Virginia where he taught until he officially retired in 2017.
He currently has a Distance Learning program and works with a small private group in Hampton, Virginia as well as taking an occasional private student.
Sifu Massengill works with the instructors under the Ip Man Wing Chun Union, keeping the focus on the original roots and self-defense, not sport. His goal is to help keep the Ip Man Wing Chun system strong for the next generation.

Sifu
Jason Korol
Sifu Jason Korol is the Vice President and Chief Instructor of the Ip Man Wing Chun Union, operating out of the main base of operations for the organization, in Greenville, South Carolina. Sifu Korol, working in unison with Sifu Massengill, is tasked with instructor training and development for the organization.
Jason is the author of over a dozen best-selling books on Wing Chun wherein he explains the deep concepts of the art and, importantly, how they are applied in this and any age. Also, since 2015 he's been a regular columnist for the world's leading Wing Chun magazine, Wing Chun Illustrated. Jason began his Wing Chun journey in 1981 and has also trained in Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do with Paul Vunak, Lamar Davis, and Ted Wong.
