Training Options
Whether you're just getting started and have literally no idea what you're doing, or you're sure you want to teach and run a program yourself, we have options for you. But no matter what your goals, our aim is to teach great Wing Chun and inspire you to be your best.
Student Training
Finding a local school might not be a possibility for you. That's ideal, of course, but while we can't replace a local affiliate for you to train under (who knows...maybe you can be that person down the road) we can give you an online community here. By partnering with us you'll get access to our weekly blog. This will help you understand the critical truths of Ip Man Wing Chun via in depth articles exploring Wing Chun's history, structural foundations, application principles and tactics, as well as provide critical training tips. Not only that but there will be helpful video links too.
If you're training at home this is a resource you'll come to love and rely on. Wing Chun is simple, but not easy. What makes it hard is when we aren't sure exactly what to focus on in our training. That breeds complexity and leads to long lost hours working on the perfection of minors rather than the majors. We'll save you from that. What's more, our online training platform, books, blogs and associated videos, as well as our seminars, can help you master the system. From Siu Lim Tao through Big Jee and the weapons...the Ip Man Wing Chun Union will get you the knowledge and training you need.

Instructor Certification
If you'd like to teach someday, your journey starts here. Through our online training platform where we have hours and hours of instruction available, our blogs and books, seminars (online and in person), we can make this happen. There are four levels of instructors as well as coaches (training group leaders):
Training Group Leaders
A Training Group Leader is authorized to teach specific levels of the curriculum. Someone who has trained in and shown proficiency and knowledge in the Siu Lim Tao curriculum can become authorized to be a SLT Training Group Leader and so on...
Apprentice Instructor
Someone who has completed the Ip Man Wing Chun curriculum and passed the basic instructor exam is authorized to teach under their direct Sifu at his/her school or, with authorization from the Union, to teach their own program.
Instructor
Someone who has passed the full instructor exam (covering curriculum knowledge, tactics, training, application, and history) and trained a minimum of three people through the Ip Man Wing Chun system in accordance with Union standards.
Senior Instructor
An individual who has passed the senior instructor exam (covering the aforementioned but in greater detail as well as applicable philosophy and extended knowledge of Wing Chun history and general self-defense law/history) and taught the Ip Man Wing Chun method to ten or more students as well as run a successful program either by themselves or under the direction of a Senior Instructor in the Ip Man Wing Chun Union.
Master Instructor
An individual who has combined their professional achievements and/or vocation to their Wing Chun. For example, a professor, a retired military or LEO officer, can submit for consideration to the rank of Master Instructor. The distinction isn't for mere physical capability alone, but for the warrior-scholar who embodies the principle of integration so important in Wing Chun (and life). In this capacity the Ip Man Wing Chun Union seeks individuals of wisdom, maturity, education and real-world experience. The CIA used to say they were looking for a scholar that could win a bar fight. Our Master Instructor rank is something like that.
