Chark Yiu: Wing Chun's Unknown Form
by Edmund Fong, Tony Massengill, and Jason Korol
In "Chark Yiu: Wing Chun's Unknown Form" Grandmaster Edmund Fong brings to the world the crowning achievement of his teacher, Ip Ching, the son of the legendary Ip Man.
Chark Yiu is a summary of the entire Ip Man Ving Tsun toolbox. The empty hand forms, Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, and Biu Jee, are uniquely represented along with their major structures and concepts. More still, the Wooden Dummy and the double knives are included too along with the their dynamic footwork and unique kicks. It was Ip Man’s opinion that if a single form could be developed that encompassed the structure, principles and heart of the system, it would be ideal! In 2004 Ip Ching met that challenge when the Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association asked that such a form be developed.
In developing this form, the Grandmaster turned to one of his closest, most skilled and trusted disciples , Edmund Fong. Once developed, it was Edmund Fong who was chosen by the Grandmaster to demonstrate it at the Second World Ving Tsun Conference in Hong Kong in 2005.
